About Obtaining Information

The Law on the Right to Information, published in the Official Gazette dated 24.October.2003 and numbered 25269, and accordingly, on April 27. With the Regulation on Principles and Procedures Regarding the Implementation of the Law on the Right to Obtain Information published in the Official Gazette dated 2004 and numbered 25445, the applications regarding the application procedure and methods to be made within the framework of this Law are regulated in detail. According to this regulation;

Application Procedure: Application to obtain information to be made by real and legal persons; A petition containing the name and place of residence of the applicant for real persons, and the title, address and authorization certificate of the legal person for legal persons is made to the information units of the institutions and organizations where the requested information or document is located.

Applications to be made in the electronic environment: Applications to be made via e-mail are made by filling out the relevant petitions published on the institution’s page, specifying the applicant’s name, surname, place of residence, and T.R. ID number.

The nature of the information or documents to be requested: The Application for Access to Information should be related to the documents held or required by the institutions and organizations applied for. However, it is essential that whether the information or documents requested by the petition are in the records of institutions and organizations, and that the process of providing access to information and documents does not hinder the daily work of the institution or organization and does not impose an unreasonable burden on the institution.

Information and documents published or made public: Information and documents published by institutions and organizations or disclosed to the public through publications, brochures, announcements and similar means cannot be the subject of applications for obtaining information.

Prohibition of publishing information and documents: According to the regulation, press organs cannot reproduce or use information and documents accessed within the framework of the procedures and principles specified in the Law and regulation for commercial purposes. It cannot be published without the permission of the institution and organization providing the information and document.

Acceptance, evaluation and processing of applications: It is essential to make an application in accordance with the law in order to accept the application petitions. In order to complete the petition completely, help is requested from the information authority in institutions and organizations. In the applications to be made in the electronic environment, the petition is processed after the T.C identification number is checked and verified.

Assistance to applicants: Officials in the Information Retrieval Unit are responsible for assisting and guiding the applicant in exercising their rights.
